3 questions
Every web page has three parts: - HTML — the skeleton: what is there (headings, text, images, buttons) - CSS — the clothes: how it looks (colour, font, layout) - JavaScript — the behaviour: what it does
HTML is written with tags. A tag opens <p> and closes </p>, with content inside:
<h1>My website</h1>
<p>Hi! I'm learning HTML.</p>
| Tag | What |
|---|---|
<h1> … <h6> |
headings (h1 is the biggest, one per page) |
<p> |
paragraph |
<strong> |
bold, important text |
<em> |
italic, emphasised text |
<br> |
line break (no closing tag) |
Tags nest inside each other:
<p>Today is a <strong>really</strong> nice day.</p>

Common mistakes
- Forgetting to close a tag:
<p>Hi— everything after it falls into that paragraph. - Closing tags in the wrong order:
<p><strong>…</p></strong>— close the inner one first.
