Graphic design is the art of communicating ideas through images, colour, type and layout. Logos, posters, Instagram posts, app screens, book covers — all of them are a designer's work.
Good design is not only beautiful, it does its job: a person gets the main message within 3 seconds.
The designer's main tools
| Tool | What for |
|---|---|
| Colour | mood and attention |
| Typography (fonts) | text that is easy and pleasant to read |
| Layout | what is seen first and what comes next |
| White space | "breathing room" — order and clarity |
| Images and icons | explaining without words |
